Boxelder Bugs on Sunny Walls in Spring Hill
Mid-October in Spring Hill cooks the south and west walls by noon. Nights drop hard. That swing packs boxelder bugs on sunny siding, window frames, and door trim. Columbia, Santa Fe, Franklin, and Thompson’s Station see the same red-and-black piles.
They look like tiny football players in orange and black. They do not sting. They do leave a smell and a stain if you crush them on paint or curtains. Maury County and Williamson County houses with maple or boxelder trees nearby get hit first.
Death Row Pest Control is family-run. We work hard, spray harder. Call or text 931-500-6969. Same number for SMS: 931-500-6969. That is the only public line.
Why they show up now
Boxelder bugs overwinter as adults. Cool nights send them hunting cracks, soffits, and dryer vents. They stage on warm walls first, then sneak into wall voids and attics when the sun drops.
Kudzu bugs pull the same trick on the same sunny faces. If the lot has kudzu or boxelder trees, pressure stays up all fall. Leaf piles and tall weeds along the fence give them a launch pad before they climb the house.
What not to do
Do not smash them on the drywall or the couch. The stain sticks and the smell hangs. Do not fog the living room while a swarm is still sitting on the outside wall. That scatters them into voids and skips the staging area that matters.
A shop-vac with a little soapy water in the canister clears a windowsill cluster. Tape the hose after so they do not crawl back out. Seal the bag and toss it. Fix torn screens the same day.
What Death Row does on Shield
Boxelder bugs, kudzu bugs, and other fall invaders sit on the insect route. That is the Shield calendar, not a panic ticket every time one lands on the lamp.
- Basic Shield $50 — insects every 3 months, interior + exterior. Rodents not included.
- Advance Shield $75 — adds mosquitoes, rodents, and a termite inspection.
- Premium Shield $125 — tighter spring/summer schedule, rodents + termite inspection, lawn fleas/ticks, attic/entry sealing included.
Arrival is about 48 hours on Basic and Advance, about 24 hours on Premium. Heavy attic sealing or a house already loaded with bugs can still get a separate quote when the stop needs more than the route spray.
Read the plans on Shield pricing. Book or ask a question on contact us. Fall invaders and other odd jobs live on other pests.
Quick home checks before we roll
Walk the sunny sides at dusk. Look for red-and-black clusters on south and west walls. Trim weeds off the foundation. Close attic vents that hang open. Keep porch lights off when you can, or use warmer bulbs that draw fewer bugs.
If you already vacuumed a pile off one window, send a photo when you call. That helps us plan exterior residual and entry points instead of guessing.
Service towns
We cover Spring Hill, Columbia, and Santa Fe with real offices on the books. Franklin and Thompson’s Station are service area. Same for the rest of Maury County and Williamson County stops that fit the route.
