Spring Hill started as a spring and a few land grants in 1808. Albert Russell built the first house. The Battle of Spring Hill on November 29, 1864 was the night Union troops slipped past Hood toward Franklin. Rippa Villa still sits on Main as the leftover of that farm world. GM Saturn opened in 1990 when about 1,500 people lived here. The census now puts the city near 59,000, which is why every third call is a new-build attic.
