The first cabin went up in 1780. The place was White House, then Littlebury, then Dr. Elijah Thompson gave land for a depot in 1856. Trains arrived in 1855 and turned the village into a livestock shipping stop. The Battle of Thompson’s Station on March 5, 1863 captured more than a thousand Union troops. Forrest’s horse Roderick is buried near the old fight. The town incorporated in 1990 and now holds about 9,800 people.
