What are Armadillos?

Nine-banded armadillo. Armor plates, long snout, night digger. They have moved into Middle Tennessee. They root cone holes and tear mulch looking for grubs.

Are they dangerous?

They do not spray or climb attics. The yard and foundation plantings take the hit. They can carry Mycobacterium leprae — do not handle one.

What causes them?

Grub lawns, soft soil, and creek edges.

Signs in the house

Cone holes and rooted mulch overnight. An armored animal in headlights.

In Middle Tennessee

Spreading through Maury and Williamson yards.
