What are Carpet Beetles?
Three common species: varied, common, and furniture. Adults look like tiny mottled ladybugs. Larvae are the ones that eat fabric — bristly and carrot-shaped.
Are they dangerous?
They do not bite in a medical sense. They wreck wool, silk, feathers, and sometimes pantry goods. People mix them with bed bugs. Get the ID right.
What causes them?
They ride in on flowers, then larvae find wool, pet hair, and lint in vents and under furniture.
Signs in the house
Adults on windowsills. Shed larval skins in a closet. Holes in wool.
