What are Earwigs?

The pincers on the tail are the ID. The ear myth is false. They do not crawl into sleeping ears to lay eggs.

Look mean. Rarely a problem pinch. They are a moisture and mulch pest.

What causes them?

Mulch volcanoes against siding, wet wood, and leaf litter.
