What are Fire Ants?
Red-brown to dark ants with a copper head. Mounds are fluffy with no hole on top. Disturb the mound and they pour out and sting.
Are they dangerous?
Yes. Stings raise welts and pustules. Dangerous to allergic people, kids, and pets. This is the ant you do not kick.
What causes them?
Sunny yards, pastures, playgrounds, and utility easements. They spread through southern and Middle Tennessee soil.
Signs in the house
Fluffy mounds in the lawn. Swarm when you step near them.

Spreading through Maury and Williamson yards and pastures.
