What are Mud Daubers?
Solitary wasps. They do not live in a paper colony. They build mud tubes on walls, in garages, and under eaves. Thin waist, dark body, some with yellow marks.
Are they dangerous?
They can sting but they are not defensive like yellowjackets. They hunt spiders.
What causes them?
Mud, a quiet wall, and spiders.

Mud tubes on a brick wall or in a garage rafter.
