What are Pavement Ants?
Dark brown workers with fine parallel lines on the head. They nest under pavement and push little sand cones up through cracks.
Are they dangerous?
Nuisance. Docile compared with fire ants.
What causes them?
Driveways, sidewalks, slab joints, and garage pads. New pours are a magnet.
Signs in the house
Sand piles in pavement cracks. Trails into a garage or first-floor kitchen.
