What are Snakes?
Middle Tennessee has rat snakes, garter snakes, kingsnakes, and copperheads. Most in a garage are rat snakes hunting mice. A thick hourglass copperhead is the one you do not pick up.
Are they dangerous?
Copperhead bite is a medical issue. Most others are not. Do not kill every snake on a porch — many eat mice.
What causes them?
Rodent food, woodpiles, and open garage doors. A mouse problem pulls snakes.
