What are Yellow Jackets?
Bright yellow and black, defined waist. Colonies can pass 4,000 workers. Nests in the ground or a wall void — not an open comb under the eave.
Are they dangerous?
Yes. Aggressive. Many stings. Allergy can be an emergency.
What causes them?
Old rodent holes, wall voids, and late-summer protein and soda cans.
Signs in the house
Traffic in and out of a hole in the lawn or siding. No visible umbrella nest.
