Work Hard, Spray Harder

Termite Swarm or Flying Ant in Santa Fe and Spring Hill

Termite damage in wood

Rain hits Santa Fe and Spring Hill. Then you find winged bugs on the windowsill. Some people spray first and ask later. Don’t.

Those insects are either termite swarmers or flying ants. The treatment is not the same. Death Row Pest Control will tell you which one you have after we look at the house. Not after you dump a can of killer on the porch.

Death Row Pest Control is family-run. We work hard, spray harder. We come to the house. Call or text 931-500-6969. Same number for SMS: 931-500-6969. That is the only public line.

Equal wings vs a pinched waist

Save one insect or the shed wings if you can. Then call. Here is the simple split.

Termite swarmers have two pairs of wings that are about the same length. The body is thick. No skinny ant waist. After a swarm you often find a pile of wings on the sill or in a spider web.

Flying ants have front wings longer than the back wings. They have a pinched waist. Elbowed antennae. They can swarm after rain too. They are still ants.

Santa Fe farmhouses have old sills, crawl spaces, and outbuildings. Spring Hill new construction sits on the same soil. New wood is still wood. Subterranean termites do not skip a subdivision because the paint is fresh.

Do not panic-spray

Spraying the flying ones does not kill a termite colony in the ground or in the wood. It also makes the ID harder. Do not soak the foundation in a random product and then ask us to finish it. We inspect first. Then we treat if it is termites.

We do not diagnose a swarm from a Facebook photo. Send one if you want. We still look in person.

What a visit looks like

  1. You call or text 931-500-6969.
  2. We look. Foundation, crawl, wood that sounds wrong, the sill, the pile of wings.
  3. You get a straight answer. Flying ants can sit on a regular insect stop. Termites get an inspection on the plan rules below. Treatment is quoted if the colony is live.

We will not pretend a spray stop is a termite warranty. Inspection is honest. Treatment is honest.

Shield plans vs termites

Current Shield prices:

Inspection is the membership line. Killing a colony is a quote. Do not buy Basic $50 and hope the swarm was “just ants.”

Plans live on pricing. Termite work lives on termite control. Need a stop on the calendar? Contact us.

Termite swarm FAQs

How do I tell a termite swarm from flying ants?
Termite swarmers have equal-length wings and a thick waist. Flying ants have longer front wings and a pinched waist. Save a sample or the shed wings. We still inspect in person. Call or text 931-500-6969.

Does Basic Shield include a termite inspection?
No. Basic $50 does not include termite inspection. The published add-on is $189. Advance $75 and Premium $125 include termite inspection.

Should I spray the swarmers?
Don’t panic-spray. Spraying the flying ones does not kill a colony in the wood or the ground. Call or text 931-500-6969. We inspect, then we treat.

Do new Spring Hill houses get termites?
Yes. New slabs sit on the same soil. Santa Fe farmhouses and Spring Hill new construction both need a real look. Paint does not stop subterranean termites.

Does a Shield plan include termite treatment?
No. Inspection is the membership line on Advance $75 and Premium $125. Treatment after a find is quoted. It is not free eradication.

What number do I call?
