Ants on Santa Fe properties
Big yards, pastures, and wooded edges give ants plenty of room. Fire ant mounds pop up in fields, along driveways, and around outbuildings, especially after rain. Carpenter ants move into damp wood on porches, sills, and old fence posts. Odorous house ants and pavement ants find their way into kitchens.
Which ant is it?
- Fire ants: dirt mounds with no clear opening on top. They swarm and sting when disturbed. Keep kids, pets, and livestock away from mounds.
- Carpenter ants: large and black. Look for sawdust-like shavings near wood. That usually means moisture.
- House ants: small trails along counters and baseboards, often after rain.
How we treat
We use baits and non-repellent products so ants carry the treatment back to the colony. Store sprays kill the trail but split the colony. Outside, we treat the foundation, porches, and entry points. Inside, we treat trails and the places they come in. Fire ant mounds near the house are treated as their own job when they are the problem.
Plans
House ants are covered on all Shield plans: Basic $50, Advance $75, and Premium $125 a month. Yard fire ants are covered on Premium, or quoted separately. If we find carpenter ants in wet wood, we tell you where the water is coming from. Advance and Premium also include a termite inspection, which matters when old wood is involved.

We treat the mounds near the house, the drive, and the spots where kids and animals walk. Treating every mound across open acreage is a separate quote.
Ants in the camper or shop?
Ask us to add the outbuilding to the stop. We bait the trails the same way we do in the house.
Do you treat around the well house and the garden?
Tell us where the well, garden beds, and animal areas are before we start. We place bait and treatment around them with care, and we skip the spots you want left alone.
